Three Hills Exteriors

Three Hills serves a large agricultural district, and our work here reflects that split: town housing on one side, and shops, machine sheds, barns and grain storage on the other. The town's housing is mostly older stock with a college-related rental component, and a lot of it needs eave work — original wood fascia, painted-over wood soffit, and no drip edge — as much as it needs roofing.

The exposure here is full prairie. Sustained wind rather than occasional gusts, driven rain and snow hitting wall assemblies directly, and wind-blown field debris rather than tree debris in the eavestroughs. Roofs get uplift-rated fastening and soffit gets heavier gauge, because a panel that would sit quietly for thirty years on a sheltered lot works loose out here.

Farm buildings are the larger part of what we do in this district. A machine shed or a barn roof is a big, simple surface — which is exactly why it gets neglected. There is no finished ceiling below to show a leak, nobody is standing under it in the rain, and by the time anyone notices, the sheathing is usually involved. We inspect the whole parcel in one visit and quote every structure together, which is both cheaper for you and how the quiet problems get caught.

Central Alberta hail reaches this district regularly, and it hits the buildings and the crop at the same time. That has a practical implication for claims: farm outbuildings are frequently left off a hail claim entirely because the inspection covered only the house. Documenting the whole parcel in one scope is materially easier for an adjuster to approve than separate submissions months apart.

The Town of Three Hills handles permits inside the boundary and Kneehill County governs the parcels around it, with different rules on structure size and on siting relative to a well head, septic field or right-of-way. Shop and machine-shed work usually falls under the county, and we handle whichever applies.

Access is the practical constraint at this distance. Farm approaches can be long, unpaved and weather-dependent, and a loaded materials truck cannot get everywhere a pickup can. We check that before quoting and stage the job so the crew and materials arrive together and the work runs continuously rather than across several trips.
